Let us start with the simplest one

  • Let us start with the simplest one: Hydra. She is an archer who will keep you on buy chaos orbs your feet. She has a barrage style movement that forces up before releasing, and it kills nearly anyone if they all connect. She also has an incredibly powerful arrow, which is also denoted by a power up. It does around 5,000 damage, and is nothing to scoff at. While you're dodging those moves and attacking her, the area is also always spawning Frostbolts for you to dodge. All that said, this is the easiest guardian fight, because all the strong moves are telegraphed.

Chimera is not too difficult, if you know his mechanics. He only takes a long time to fight, and has plenty of phases. For the most part he'll just hit you in the face, and most of his attacks do not do too much damage. When you return to 75%, 50%, and 25%, he'll disappear and you've got to deal with small mobs for a while. The only attack he has that's truly frightening is his smoke. He will disappear and you need to run into every smoke until he hits you and then reappears. Other than that, he's a breeze.

Phoenix is probably the most crude of the bunch, but also very lethal. He has an attack that whirls forwards you have to dodge, otherwise you become a pancake. He also has an insanely strong fire explosion he charges up for before discharging, so steer clear of that. His only other interesting mechanic is he spawns phoenixes around the room. You'll likely want to clear all of them at some stage.

Minotaur is the final of the guardians. He is not necessarily the more guide toughest, but he does require the most gear. Every other protector has a lot of stuff to dodge or play around, but maybe not Minotaur. His strongest attack is really a burrow. If you get a lot away from him he'll go underground and burrow towards you. It will kill almost anyone it hits. As a result, your very best choice will be essentially only standing in front of him taking his strikes. It is more of a gear check than anything. But you should move when he slams the ground and produces a circle of falling stones; you do not wish to stand at that.
